The new Ofsted framework will have a greater emphasis on the way that assessment is used to focus and pitch teaching at the right level to meet pupils' needs. Inspectors will be focusing on:
- Teachers assess pupils’ progress on an ongoing basis, providing them with constructive feedback and plan lessons to match their needs.
- Ofsted will continue to use constructive dialogue with teachers as a tool for inspection. More talking to teachers is planned, they will ask how children are doing in your class, in particular vulnerable children/groups.
- Inspectors will be looking for evidence to support judgements of the above.
- How well do you know your pupils? Does evidence in files, books, records add up? Do your assessments correspond to the work in books?
- Ofsted will expect to teachers to know: What is the quality of pupils' work like and how much progress have they made in your class? Since joining the school?
- Teachers should know their groups (FSM, gender etc), and understand progress and setting targets for each group.
Classroom Monitor will help you to excel in your next Ofsted inspection
